METRO forming community working group; first meeting May 22

METRO invites you to participate in the community working group being formed for the I-10 West high capacity transit extension study.  METRO is performing an I-10 West Alternatives Analysis to determine a route and transit technology that will connect the West Valley to the light rail starter segment.  The boundaries used in the analysis are 7th Street to 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road to Lower Buckeye Road.  The analysis is in the Tier Two phase; a detailed technical analysis will be applied to the possible alignment options and transit technologies that are under consideration in order to identify a recommended alignment and transit technology.

As METRO moves forward with the Tier Two phase, the I-10 West Community Working Group (Downtown) is being established to ensure that your respective organization/community is represented in this process which will help guide the direction of the alignment, transit technology, and station locations for the study area east of the I-17.

A community working group is also being formed to represent the area west of the I-17.  Beginning in May 2008, the I-10 West Community Working Group (Downtown) will meet each month through approximately November 2008.  The first meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 6:30 PM to 8 PM at the Metro Office located at 101 N. 1st Avenue, #1300, Board Room in Phoenix.  If you are interested in participating, contact Monica Hernandez via e-mail or phone 602-322-4427.
