[Source: Connie Cone Sexton, Arizona Republic] — Phoenix residents will have a chance to push for programs they want saving as city officials prepare to slice about $67 million from the budget over the next 18 months. Community meetings will be held from Feb. 25 through March 6 at locations across the city.
The sessions will include information on the comprehensive budget outlook for 2008-09. Because of budget shortfalls, cuts will be needed citywide, including the projected loss of 500 positions. Residents of downtown/midtown Phoenix can share their opinions at 6 p.m., Feb. 26 at the Encanto Park Clubhouse Ballroom, 2605 N. 15th Ave.
