The Phoenix Pride Commission is asking the public to add another site to its Phoenix Points of Pride list. From Feb. 11 to March 20, everyone is invited to vote for their favorite Point of Pride from among the 10 finalists recently selected from more than 60 sites that were nominated by the public in fall 2007. A Point of Pride is a landmark or attraction unique to, and located within, the city of Phoenix that evokes a sense of pride among area residents. The 10 finalists for 2008 are ASU West campus, Burton Barr Central Library, George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, Chase Field, Cesar Chavez Park, Cutler-Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center, Murphy Bridle Path, North Mountain Visitor’s Center, Pioneer Living History Museum, and Royal Palms Hotel.
Voting rules include:
Voting is open to everyone;
Only one location per postcard or Internet entry can be listed;
People may vote only one time for a location;
Voters must include their name, address, and signature on their postcard and all information on the Internet entry for votes to be valid.
Vote online or by postcard from Feb. 11 to March 20. Postcards can be mailed to City of Phoenix PIO (MC), 200 W. Washington St., 12th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003 and must be postmarked no later than March 20. The Phoenix Pride Commission will tally the votes and announce the new Points of Pride site(s) in April.
