City of Phoenix Key 2020/2021 Election Dates

November 3, 2020 – to elect Mayor and Councilmembers in Districts 1, 3, 5, and 7

  • District 1 – Councilmember Williams will be termed out and cannot run for re-election
  • District 7 – Councilmember Nowakowski will be termed out and cannot run for re-election
  • Districts 3 and 5 – Councilmembers Stark and Guardado are eligible to run for re-election

Candidate information is available on the City Elections Website. This information will include filing dates.If no candidate in each November 2020 race receives more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff election would be held March 9, 2021 (second Tuesday in March).November 8, 2022 – to elect Councilmembers in Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8

  • District 6 – Councilmember DiCiccio will be termed out and cannot run for re-election
  • Districts 2, 4, and 8 – Councilmembers Waring, Pastor, and Garcia are eligible to run for re-election

​Potential Special Elections (from City Elections Website)

Special elections may be called by the City Council or as required by law. State law permits special elections to be held on only four dates each year.

  1. March (second Tuesday)
  2. May (third Tuesday)
  3. August (tenth Tuesday before the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November)
  4. November (first Tuesday after the first Monday)
