[Source: Arizona Republic] — Tough economic times haven’t put a damper on Phoenix’s budding film industry. The number of film-related jobs grew 65% during 2007-08, the city said, thanks to 540 projects shot by local and national production companies. Phoenix estimates the economic impact of the film industry on greater Phoenix at $23.9 million. “The Phoenix film industry remains strong and vibrant despite a struggling economy and labor pains in Hollywood,” said Phil Bradstock, Phoenix Film Office program manager, in a statement. Among the movies shot in Phoenix during the past 12 months were Farlanders, Twilight, and The Graves.
