Destruction of midtown Phoenix landmark continues

The destruction of the former Mountain Bell/Qwest building, designed by noted local architect Al Beadle, continues.  Located at 3rd St. and Earll in midtown Phoenix, the site is slated to be a high-end retirement community for baby boomers.  For background, click here.

  1. I can see that building from out my living room window, and watching it being torn down has been really fascinating. We pay rapt attention to the construction of buildings, but rarely see what happens when those buildings outlive their intended purpose, and are destroyed to make way for more consumption. It’s sad to see that it could not be repurposed, but watching the stages of destruction has been oddly apocalyptic in an entirely cathartic way.
