[Source: Arizona Republic] — Students may learn about contemporary cities during the new “Urban Experience,” a pre-college summer program, July 14-18, at Arizona State University’s downtown Phoenix campus. It will incorporate hands-on learning, tours, and visits with professors and local community leaders. Students will tour local environments to see what it means to live in Phoenix. Students will put their knowledge into context with a group project dealing with a specific urban issue.
The activity is sponsored by ASU’s Urban & Metropolitan Studies Program, a new bachelor’s degree program at the downtown campus. Samuel Feldman (graduate of the program and Marvin Andrews Scholar in ASU’s Masters in Public Administration program) and Elenia Sotelo (also an Urban & Metropolitan Studies student) will lead the Urban Experience. The cost is $50 and includes lunches from local downtown restaurants. To register (on or before June 16), click here. For more information, call 602-496-0461 or send an e-mail.
