Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Pioneers’ Cemetery Association 25th annual Memorial Day observance at the Pioneer & Military Memorial Park, 1317 West Jefferson, on Monday, May 26, 2008 starting promptly at 9:30 a.m. There will be childrens’ activities, program participants in historic dress, and tours of the cemeteries and Smurthwaite House.
During your visit, pause to admire the wrought-iron arches at the entrances of Rosedale and Porter cemeteries. They were donated by the Wilky family. A complete listing of all known burials in the park is available in spiral-bound book format. A donation of $25 to the Pioneers’ Cemetery Association, Inc. is requested to help cover printing costs.
