Local artist Robert Miley’s “Release the Fear” sculpture, comprised of melted down collected weapons used in violent crimes, will be highlighted in a documentary film featured at the opening ceremonies of the July 2008 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit. The sculpture is located at the intersection of Central Ave. and Roosevelt St.
The annual summit is attended by eight of the world’s most powerful heads of government (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States). The top four topics for this year’s summit are: environment and climate change, development and Africa, the world economy, and political issues including non-proliferation.
