KQED airs segment on "fighting for Asian-American heritage in Arizona"

KQED Public Radio in San Francisco, CA aired this broadcast on the Sun Merc controversy on Dec. 29, 2005.  According to reporter Rene Gutel, Arizona has experienced a large influx of Asian-Americans in the last 15 years.  Their numbers have more than doubled since 1990 to about 3% of the state’s population.  But there have been Asians in the desert for generations, and now a controversy is heating up over the last remnant of their early history.
