Very nice article. I too am a big time Phoenix cheerleader and history buff and it drives me up a tree when people knock Phx for not having culture or history, we do have it and ours is fascinating, we just don't do a good job of sharing it.

For a time we had art and aesthetics pioneered by guys like Paul Coze and Phillip C Curtis that were distinctly Phoenician, that embraced our Western and Native American routes but along the way somewhere we got embarrassed by them it seems. While there haven't been many great works of literary fiction set in the Valley thats likely soon to change as our arts scene continues to explode, so Ill be happy to wait patiently.

We (and I mean all of us) need to do a better job sharing Phoenix's unique culture and identity. Im glad to see pictures of historic Phx on one of the Light Rail stops and things like that but there needs to be much more of it.
