Rehab proposed for McDowell & 7th Ave. historic building

[Source: Barbara Stocklin, Historic Preservation Officer, City of Phoenix] — City Historic Preservation Office staff continue to meet with representatives of Lawrence & Geyser Development about the proposed rehabilitation of the 1929 one-story brick Hurley Building at the northeast corner of McDowell Road and 7th Avenue, and a proposed new two-three story commercial infill project immediately to the east of the historic building on McDowell Road.

The developer has met several times with representatives from the Willo Neighborhood to the north, and a vote on the project by the Willo Board is anticipated at their next meeting on May 15.  The developer is set to submit a Certificate of Appropriateness application and variance requests to the City by late May or early June 2008.
